Rock Creek/Kettle River Kayak Routes Rock Creek offers leisurely paddles. During low-water, it is rated as a Class II+ river. During high-water season, its rating is upgraded to Class III+. Kettle River is tremendously clean, enticing visitors to take a dip. |

Nelson Climbing Areas There are three climbing area in and around the town of Nelson. Kootenay Crag is rated between 5.11 and 5.13 by the rock climbing grading system. Hall Siding offers 12 different routes. And for the extreme climbers, a canoe trip down to the Grohman Narrows provides for some of the most reclusive and challenging climbs in the area. |

Slocan The Slocan Bluffs offers cracks and crags and climbing ranging from easy to extremely difficult. After a hard climb, many people take a dip in Slocan Lake to cool off and relax. Koch Creek is also in the area and offers numerous different climbing routes with its granite cracks and slabs. |

Slocan Lake Canoe Route This crystalline lake is nearly untouched. It offers travellers plenty of campsites and a canoe trip along its western shore through the Valhalla Provincial Park. This trip takes three to five days and is about 30 km (19 mi). Glacier water spills into this lake and it is mighty chilly. |

Seven Summits Trail Popular mountain biking trail that takes cyclists through alpine wilderness. Enjoy views of the Columbia River Valley and Southern Selkirk Mountains. Cyclists are advised that this is a remote trail and it is recommended they bring water, food, first aid and repair kits, insect repellent and a compass.
